Lifesaving kit installed at Shrewsbury primary school
A lifesaving defibrillator has been installed at a Shrewsbury primary school thanks to support from local businesses.
Children and staff at Sundorne Infants and Nursery will now have instant access to the equipment if it is ever needed in an emergency.
It was made possible thanks to the fundraising efforts of the school PTA and donations from the Volvo garage, Westbury garage, Nissan garage and Sundorne Explorers.
The defibrillator is designed so that anyone can use it, providing step-by-step instructions in the event of an emergency.
It is one of scores that are now installed across Shropshire, many of them in public areas so that they can be easily accessed in the event of someone collapsing with a cardiac arrest.
Clare Beaman, chairwoman of the PTA, said: “We would like to thank each and every parent and teacher and business who helped towards the purchase of the school defibrillator.
“The school PTA decided to help out and with the help of volunteers were able to fundraise for this purchase.
“We also had phenomenal response from local businesses who helped and contributed, and to these we say thank you.
“We hope that we never have to use this invaluable piece of equipment, but to have it up and working in case is a credit to all that helped.”
