Brilliant results from budding Shropshire architects
A competition inviting children to become young architects really caught the imagination of primary school youngsters across Shropshire and its borders.
There were nearly 300 entries in the Design Your Dream Home competition run by county business Halls, which has a thriving property section.
The company, which has offices throughout the region, aimed to encourage the creativity of children to both imagine and aspire to one day own the home of their dreams.
Judges were Halls’ head of marketing Tom Hunt, Shrewsbury artist Beverley Fry and Shropshire Magazine editor Neil Thomas, who had a tough morning trying to pick the winners from a terrific standard.
Tom said: “The competition really gathered pace. We involved over 50 schools in the region and I was very pleased that teachers got involved too. The creativity and imagination of the children who have entered is brilliant.
“I have been amazed at the detail and time that has gone into creating these designs. It’s been a real pleasure to open every entry, and a great way to brighten up the day for everyone in the office too.”
There were three age categories, each of which had a first prize of £100, a second of £50 and a third of £25.
Winners in the under eights were Flora Floyd, aged five, in first, second place went to five-year-old Henry Cornell and in third was Lucas Mullock-Jones, age seven.
For the eight and nine year category, Jessica Clarke, eight, came first, second was Eve Marshall, nine, and Elliot Turner, eight, was third.
Finally in the 10 and 11 year, first was Zach Cook, age 10, Melody Stephens, 10, was second and Kiara Simpson, 11, came third.
