Emergency services received calls about an oil leak across part of the A41 near The Parachute Centre in Prees Heath at about 5.50am.

Police partially closed the road while Highways Agency bosses called for a gritter to deal with the spillage. Signs put up to warn drivers to slow down.

Inspector Mark Ashford, for West Mercia Police, said: "We don't know where the spillage has come from but gritters have been on scene and signs have been placed along the roadside warning drivers to slow down while the grit absorbs the oil."

Meanwhile fire crews were called out to deal with a fuel leak from the tank of a lorry. The spillage happened at about 1.30pm at Malehurst, near Minsterley. Two fire engines and an environment unit attended.
