Crews from Shrewsbury, Baschurch and Oswestry were called out to Shoothill, Ford, near Shrewsbury shortly after 5.30pm yesterday. They spent more than an hour tackling the blaze, dragging the smouldering bales from the barn.

The fire was initially contained within the building, with crews deciding to allow it to burn itself out and concentrate on keeping the blaze contained and protecting the surrounding buildings.

Firefighters also attended two blazes in Oakengates, Telford, this morning. The first fire was at a paper bank in New Street at 5.30am.

They were then called to a bin fire 30 minutes later in Limes Walk.
