Police in appeal for sightings of truck used in Wem skip theft

Detectives have released CCTV footage of a lorry involved in the theft of a £2,000 skip from Wem.

Police believe the CCTV images show a distinctive Ford Iveco truck, possibly purple in colour, carrying the stolen skip.

New Street just before 7pm on Friday. The lorry is seen on the footage loading the skip on to the back using a built-in crane before driving out of the site, when it is believed to have turned into Shrewsbury Road and headed out of town.

Constable Mark Hobden, who is investigating the theft, appealed for anyone who might recognise the vehicle on the CCTV images or knows who owns it to contact police.

"The lorry is quite distinctive and looks like it might be purple, dark red or blue in colour, with a roof light bar, a crane behind the cab and 'Recovery' written on the front," he said.

"If anyone knows who this vehicle belongs to or of its whereabouts now, please contact police on 101.

"Information can also be passed on anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111."
