Yesterday afternoon, a crew from Wellington helped free an 11-month-old baby who had been accidentally locked in a car, while a crew from Telford Central were called out when a man fell through the floor in his loft.

The baby girl became locked in a car in New Row, Horsehay, just after 3.30pm yesterday.

Crew manager Ian Pugh said: "The baby was locked inside the car for about half an hour.

"The keys seemed to have slipped down from the chair and locked the car while the doors were shut.

"We got the call at about 3.30pm and used some of the smaller equipment we have to get the door open and get the baby out."

Just over half an hour after the baby was freed, firefighters were called out to a house in Duffryn, Hollinswood, after a man was trapped in his loft. The 32-year-old fell through and he was trapped up to his waist.

Fire fighter Glenn Cruikshank said: "He had gone up the loft to move a few things around and fell through up to his waist.

"He had hurt his leg a little bit but didn't want us to call an ambulance.

"He was probably stuck up there for about 15 minutes. There were other occupants in the house but they couldn't help him down."
