Pontesbury house roof is hit by fire damage

The roof of a house in a Shropshire village was damaged by a fire which started in an airing cupboard in the early hours of today.

Fire ripped through a mid terrace, single storey property in School Green in Pontesbury, near Shrewsbury, at about 5.10am.

Firefighters from Minsterley and Shrewsbury attended the scene and used four breathing apparatus and two hoses to put out the flames.

A spokeswoman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "It was a fire involving an electricity board in an airing cupboard."
