Trapped girl, 2, cut free from Telford tractor ride
A two-year-old girl was freed by firefighters today after she got her head stuck in a children's tractor ride at a Telford garden centre.
The girl from Muxton got stuck in a mechanical ride at Wyevale Garden Centre in Donnington. Firefighters arrived at about 11am and rescued her within 20 minutes, using hydraulic tools to cut through a metal bar.
Tim Hughes, of Telford Central Fire Station, said: "We had a call about a child stuck in a toy tractor. We found a two-year-old girl trapped by her head through the bars in the side of an electric toy tractor.
"We used small gear and hydraulic cutting and spreading tools to bend the piece of equipment and safely rescued the child."
Rob Macmaster, duty manager at Wyevale Garden Centre, said: "The girl was freed within a matter of minutes and everything was fine. She was released with no injuries and we gave her some sweets so she was quite happy."
