Five injured in Shropshire crashes

Three people were taken to hospital after two cars crashed along a main road, in the first of two accidents.

The collision happened on Saturday afternoon at about 3.30pm on the A525 Eglwys Cross near Whitchurch.

Firefighters released one trapped person and all three were taken to hospital.

It is not yet known how serious the injuries are.

Meanwhile, a two car crash left one lying on its roof and another in the grass verge.

The collision happened at about 4.40pm on Saturday on the A5 Nesscliffe Bypass in Shrewsbury.

Both drivers were taken to hospital with minor injuries and both lanes southbound were blocked whilst recovery work took place.

There were no other passengers involved.
