Two-year-old escapes injury in Telford smash
A two-year-old boy was one of five people involved in a two-car collision in Telford.
The infant escaped uninjured, but a passenger in a separate car was treated by a trauma doctor and taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital.
The incident took place at the junction of Leegate Avenue and Chichester Drive in Leegomery at around 4.30pm on Tuesday.
Both cars were seriously damaged.
The driver of the car carrying the child, a woman in her 40s, was treated for minor seatbelt injuries and taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
A man who was a passenger in the other car was was anaesthetised and taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital.
The driver of that vehicle, a man in his 20s, was taken to Princess Royal Hospital with a minor seatbelt injury and hip pain.
A second passenger who had been sat in the front of the car was uninjured.
West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman Chris Kowalik said a properly fitted childseat had saved the two-year-old.
"The boy who was in the back of the car was securely wrapped up in the childseat which prevented any injury to him despite the significant damage done to both cars by the crash."
