Telford police pledge more patrols over rowdy behaviour
"Rowdy" behaviour, street drinking and littering is causing havoc for an area of Telford.
West Mercia Police's safer neighbourhood team for Hadley and Leegomery will put on extra patrols to tackle the problems in Hadley.
Residents have reported groups of people causing issues including urinating and drinking alcohol in the street and on the green.
Officers say recent reports of drunk men and women fouling in the street and leaving litter in the area has prompted them to take action.
A statement from the SNT said: "Working with the harm-reduction unit, a visual audit was carried out in which members of the public were spoken to about the problem.
"One local property owner pointed out that an area near the village green has become a makeshift toilet for the drinkers.
"Another resident said since the old toilet block was demolished people have nowhere to go.
"An operation on Friday led to members of the public being advised about their conduct.
"Local shops were also asked to be aware of the licensing laws and were supportive in putting up notices to those who buy alcohol to consume in the area.
"Hadley and Leegomery will increase patrols the area while the harm reduction unit working with the parish council and local authority will look at long-term solutions."
