Man killed in crash with lorry near Newport

A man has died after a crash between a car and a lorry near Newport.

West Mercia Police is appealing for witnesses after the crash which happened on the A41 near Weston Heath on Friday night.

The incident happened shortly after 6.05pm when a Black Citroen C3, travelling along the A41 from the direction of Newport towards the M54, was involved in a collision with a white Scania articulated lorry travelling in the opposite direction towards Newport.

Police, fire and ambulance services attended and the driver of the Citroen, a man in his early twenties, suffered serious head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The collision took place close to the junction with the B5314 and resulted in temporary closures at the roundabout of the A41 and A5, the B5314 and B4379.

Police would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or saw either vehicle before. If you have information that may be helpful, please call 101 and quote incident number 659s of June 17.
