The fire broke out in a barn in a field in the Onibury area of Craven Arms last night.

The alarm was raised at 11.50pm.

The blaze, which a spokesperson for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said "was not severe", started originally in a metal framed building next to the barn which stored five round bales of straw which were on fire. However, the side of the barn was also burnt.

Five crews from Bridgnorth, Craven Arms and Ludlow attended, as well as operations and fire investigation officers.

The crews also brought with them a water carrier.

They used two hose reel jets and one main jet to extinguish the blaze.

Police also attended the scene.

The fire service left the scene shortly before 1.50am, however crews were expected to return this morning to check the scene over.
