Emergency services were called to a property in St John's Park, St John's Street, Whitchurch, following reports of a fire involving a microwave.

Firefighters from Whitchurch were called to the scene at about 8pm yesterday, but the fire was out prior to their arrival.

Murray MacGregor, spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "We had a call from Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service at 8.21pm to say they had an elderly lady who was suffering breathing issues.

"A rapid response vehicle was sent to the scene and arrived in six minutes of the 999 call.

"After being given oxygen, the lady's condition stabilised and she was discharged at the scene."
