Woman treated for 'life-changing injuries' after A5 crash near Chirk

A passenger on a motorcycle was today being treated in hospital for what police described as "life-changing injuries".

The woman is currently being cared for at Royal Stoke University Hospital's trauma centre after being airlifted following the crash, which took place north of Oswestry on the A5.

She suffered leg injuries in the crash, which involved a Volvo car and a motorcycle.

The crash took place shortly after 4pm on Sunday close to the Halton roundabout on the Chirk bypass.

Police closed the road to allow emergency services get to the scene and it remained shut for several hours while an initial investigation was carried out.

Anybody who witnessed the collision is asked to contact officers at the Roads Policing Unit, North Wales Police on 101, quoting reference number U113298.
