Bungling thief drops bag of cash he stole from driver outside a Telford bank

A thief stole a bag of cash from a driver making a delivery to a bank in Wellington - but when he dropped it he claimed it had all been a joke.

The incident happened in Walker Street, outside the TSB building, between 7pm and 7.30pm on August 2 when a driver was making a delivery at the bank.

A man ran up to the driver and grabbed one of his bags, ran off, but then dropped the bag and said it had been a joke, leaving empty handed.

Officers would like to trace a man, carrying a red and black rucksack, who was nearby at the time and may have witnessed the incident.
