The inquest of Myrtle Sarah Braund, 75, of Ludlow, will open at Shirehall today.

She died in hospital shortly after the accident, when two cars were involved in a crash on the A49 at Strefford, to the north of Craven Arms, before one of them collided head-on with the ambulance.

Medical Services Ltd, whose non-emergency ambulance was involved in the accident at about 7pm on Monday, said a full investigation was now under way.

The stretch of the A49 between Craven Arms and Little Stretton was closed last night for emergency repairs in the wake of the crash, and was due to re-open at 6am today.

Police have issued an appeal for witnesses to the crash, which saw five other people were taken to hospital.

Anyone with details should call 101, quoting incident number 0629S of August 8.
