One man taken to hospital after Shifnal crash involving Royal Mail van

A man was trapped in a crash between a Royal Mail van and a Transit van in Shifnal.

The two vehicles were travelling in opposite directions along Shaw Lane in Shifnal when the crash happened at 9.45am this morning.

One man had to be taken to hospital following the collision.

Three fire appliances including a rescue tender were sent from Tweedale and Wellington.

The man was freed before the fire service arrived.

Jamie Arrowsmith, of West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "We were called at 9.29am to Shaw Lane to reports of a two vehicle RTC and reports that there was a male unconscious.

"We took someone to Princess Royal Hospital by land ambulance."

Pictures were shared by Shropshire's Operational Patrol Unit, who Tweeted: "Dealing with a RTC in Shifnal - it will mean a limited postal service today!"
