Pictures and video: Two taken to hospital after 'suspicious' blaze at Telford house

Two people had to be taken to hospital following a serious house fire in Telford in the early hours of this morning which is being treated as suspicious.

Three men and a woman were able to escape the blaze at a house in Hurleybrook Way, in Leegomery, which started between 3.30am and 3.54am.

Police say they are treating the fire as suspicious and are appealing for witnesses, after the fire left the home with substantial damage as well as causing damage to a number of neighbouring properties.

Detective Inspector Jason Everett said: "This was an extremely serious fire that could easily have had more tragic consequences. At this time, we are keeping an open mind about the cause of the fire and it is being treated as suspicious.

"We're keen to speak to people who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area around Hurleybrook Way in the early hours of this morning or anyone else who has information that could help with our investigation.

"We would like to reassure the local community that we will be having increased patrols in the area following this incident."
