Woman airlifted to hospital after lorry and car crash blocks A41 in Shropshire

The A41 in Shropshire was partially blocked this afternoon after a collison between a car and a lorry in which a woman is believed to have suffered serious head injuries and has been airlifted to hospital

Three fire engines including the rescue tender were sent to Prees Heath from Prees, Wellington and Whitchurch at about 2.30pm.

Also at the scene were an ambulance, the air ambulance and police.

The A41 Heath Road in Prees Heath was partially blocked in both directions between the Tilstock Lane junction and the Hospital Lane junction.

Drivers were urged to avoid the area.

A police spokesman said: "Police are currently in attendance after receiving reports of a collision between a car and a lorry on the A41 Prees Heath, near the Taj Mahal restaurant.

"Fire, ambulance and air ambulance are also in attendance and a woman is reported to have serious head injuries.

"The road is currently blocked, no more details at this time."
