A5 between Shrewsbury and Oswestry bought to a standstill after four car crash
Traffic was brought to a standstill on the A5 between Shrewsbury and Oswestry after a crash involving four cars.
The busy route was impassable yesterday afternoon with long delays in both directions between West Felton and the B4397 to Ruyton XI Towns.
Roads were closed to traffic from Shotatton Crossroads to the West Felton junction while emergency services dealt with the incident, which happened at the Sandford turning.
The accident happened at just after 3.45pm and three fire engines from Oswestry, Wellington and Baschurch were dispatched to the scene. Police and ambulance were also in attendance.
A spokeswoman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said that fire control had been informed of the accident at 3.48pm.
"Small gear was used to make the vehicles safe and by the time we arrived no one was trapped as they had been freed by staff from West Midlands Ambulance Service."
