Man killed as tractor rolls down steep Shropshire hill
A man died after becoming trapped underneath a tractor which rolled down a hill in Shropshire this afternoon.
Emergency services were called to a field off Arbour Lane, in Bishops Castle, at around 1.50pm.
West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman Claire Brown said: "An ambulance and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford with a MERIT trauma doctor were sent to the scene.
"When ambulance staff arrived they found a tractor which had reportedly rolled down a hill and collided with a man.
"Fire service colleagues were giving oxygen therapy to the man who was trapped beneath the tractor."
She said paramedics took over but the man's condition deteriorated and he went into cardiac arrest.
Ms Brown added: "Despite the best efforts of ambulance staff and the fire service nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead on scene."
Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said firefighters from Bishops Castle fire station were sent to the scene but left the incident in the care of paramedics.
