Woman treated after crash involving car and cyclist in Shrewsbury

A cyclist and a car were involved in a crash during rush hour in Shrewsbury this morning.

Emergency services were at the scene of the crash on Whitchurch Road just after 9.40am.

One woman required the attention of the ambulance service at the scene.

A spokeswoman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We did attend the scene of the accident but on arrival found that no one was trapped and our services were not required."

The road was closed for a short time.

Elsewhere emergency services were called to the scene after a car rolled in Newport.

Staffordshire Police, West Midland Ambulance Service and both Staffordshire and Shropshire Fire and Rescue were sent to the scene on the A519 junction for Fernhill Road in Newport about 12.15pm.

One man in his 20s was treated by ambulance staff.

Jamie Arrowsmith, spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "One ambulance and a paramedic support officer were in attendance.

"It doesn't look like there are any serious injuries."
