Lucky escape for driver as metal sheets fall off lorry onto car on the A5
A woman had a lucky escape this morning after metal sheets fell off the back of a lorry onto the bonnet of the car she was driving on the A5 near Chirk.
The accident at the Gledrid roundabout closed parts of the busy road resulting in heavy traffic at Weston Rhyn and on the A483.
Murray MacGregor, a spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We had a call at 8.50am to an incident opposite the Moreton Park Garden Centre on Chirk Road, Chirk, with the caller saying that metal sheets had fallen off a lorry and onto a car.
"The caller was a 27-year-old woman, who said the sheets had landed on the front offside of the bonnet and said they had caused some damage to the bonnet, however there was no intrusion to the vehicle and the windscreen was okay.
"There were three people in the car but only the woman was checked over who was fine and discharged at the scene."
North Wales Police tweeted to say: "RTC at A5 Halton roundabout (Weston Rhyn) near to Lord Moreton Hall. Traffic backing up onto the A483 Southbound. Please avoid."
