Mother killed in A49 crash named as Gillian Bamber, 38

A mother who died in a horrific crash on the A49 has been named as 38-year-old Gillian Naomi Bamber.

She was pronounced dead at the scene after her Vauxhall Corsa was in collision with a Volkswagen Transporter van at Dinmore Hill, south of Leominster.

She was in the car with her two daughters, one of which remains in a critical condition having been airlifted to Birmingham Children's Hospital.

The accident happened near their home in Hope under Dinmore.

The car was travelling north along the A49 at about 3.30pm on Monday when it collided with the van, travelling south towards Hereford.

A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and bailed, pending further investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
