The 19-year-old from Craven Arms has been interviewed after an altercation with other passengers alleged to have included racial and sexual comments, British Transport Police said.

Pc Neil James said the force recently issued an appeal for information after two passengers were subjected to racial abuse and inappropriate sexual comments on a train on September 17.

He said: "I would like to thank the media and members of the public for their assistance in sharing this appeal, as well as those who came forward with valuable information."

He said a man has now been identified and voluntarily attended a police station to be interviewed by investigating officers in relation to what was being treated as a racially aggravated public order offence.

The 19-year-old, who is from Craven Arms, has been reported for process and may be summoned to court at a later date, with a file submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service, he said.
