North Wales Police have confirmed that after being alerted to a man "behaving suspiciously" in the Lloyds Lane area of Chirk last month, their investigation has found that the vehicle was on "legitimate business".

At the time a schoolgirl reported being followed by a man who got out of a black van. Police said no contact was made and the girl ran away.

Michael McGivern, a spokesman for the force, said: "An investigation into reports of a suspicious vehicle being sighted in the Chirk area in recent weeks has shown that it was on legitimate business and that there are no suspicious circumstances relating to it."

Sergeant Darren Whibberley added : "I would like to reassure the community that we have looked into the matter thoroughly and are satisfied that the black van reported to us, and which has been the subject of concern on social media, is not connected to any sinister behaviour or to the appeal issued last month by West Mercia Police about a suspicious vehicle in Shropshire.

"I would like to thank the public for their vigilance and I would always encourage people to report suspicious behaviour."
