Officers were outside St Peter's School in Bratton after reports of vehicles being parked across residents' driveways and double parking at the time of school drop-off and collection time.

Wellington Safer Neighbourhood Team patrolled the area yesterday, giving advice to drivers and handing out leaflets.

The school has also been given a copy of the leaflet to include in its next newsletter.

It is the latest in a series of schools across Shropshire that have been suffering with problem parking.

Patrols took place outside Market Drayton Infant and Nursery School, in November, where chaos descends twice a day.

Three people were caught parking inappropriately, two of whom were given warnings and one a ticket that could result in a fine, driver awareness course, or even a court appearance.

Fears have also been voiced in Bridgnorth that someone will be hurt due to dangerous parking, as parents and children weave in between cars to cross the roads and have to edge around cars on the road as they are parked on the pavement.

Signs are displayed asking drivers to not park on the yellow zigzags outside the schools. The two headteachers at St John's Catholic Primary School and St Leonard's CE Primary School have sent letters to Bridgnorth Town Council and the police to look into the parking.
