Man dies after police called to property at Hungerford near Craven Arms
A man has died following an incident at a property on the B4368 at Hungerford, near Craven Arms, which led to the road being closed by police today.
Despite receiving treatment at the scene the man, from Shropshire, was pronounced dead shortly after at 5.40.am.
Police initially responded to a call at 2.37am raising concern for the safety of the man. Officers, including a trained negotiator, were deployed to the property.
No other members of the public were involved in the incident.
West Mercia Police said it was not treating the death as suspicious and that, as is normal following such an incident , the Independent Police Complaints Commission has been notified.
Detective Superintendent James Tozer said: "All our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time."
The incident closed the B4368 between Craven Arms and Morville. Police asked people to avoid the area while they responded. The road has now reopened.
