Welshpool police station to close for two-month revamp
Welshpool police station will be closed for the next eight weeks – but residents have been assured policing levels will be maintained.
Dyfed-Powys Police said Welshpool station will shut until early March for a revamp, with officers being based at the fire station.
The station, in Severn Road, is undergoing essential heating system maintenance and minor fabric works, as part of a police estate modernisation programme.
Inspector Jonathan Tatton said during the coming weeks alternative arrangements will be in place for normal service to continue.
The Neighbourhood Policing Team will be based in the nearby fire station and the public call point outside the police station will be working as usual so that officers can attend from the fire station when called.
He said: "This level of investment in Welshpool police station clearly demonstrates our commitment to keeping a local policing base in the town and our desire to ensure our facilities are fit for operational use for the future. It "It will house a number of police officers and police staff who together, will continue to keep the public safe. These works will ensure that we are able to provide the highest standards of service to our communities in the Welshpool area."
