Body of newborn baby found at Telford home

The body of a newborn baby has been found at a home in Telford.

Police made the discovery after being called to an address in Dawley.

Officers say investigations are continuing into the circumstances surrounding the death.

The mother of the child has been identified and is receiving medical attention and care following the discovery on Thursday afternoon.

Specialist officers from West Mercia Police are liaising with the Telford family involved.

The cause of the infant's death has yet to be determined.

Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin coroner John Ellery has been informed about the death. An inquest is likely to be opened and adjourned in the next few days.

The death is being treated as unexplained and no arrests have been made.
