Roy Ernest Bundy, aged 79, from Chester, and Walter Stanley Dobrowolski, 67, from Ellerdine, Telford, died in the crash on the A525 near Whitchurch last week.

Their inquests were opened yesterday at Shirehall, Shrewsbury, by Heath Westerman, assistant coroner for Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin. The inquest was told that Mr Dobrowolski, married to wife Ursula, was a retired man who had previously been self-employed.

Coroner's officer, Julie Hartridge, said: "He was riding a motorcycle along the A525 travelling south west towards Whitchurch on March 21. On the approach to the area of the fishery, he collided with a pedestrian in the carriageway and was pronounced dead at the scene."

The inquest was told Mr Bundy, of Vicars Cross in Chester, was crossing the road when he was in collision with the bike. Mr Bundy, a retired distribution worker, was born in London and married to wife Freda. The road was closed between Whitchurch and Broughall after the crash on Tuesday. The inquests were adjourned.
