Oswestry deaths are not linked, say police
Police say there is no link between the discovery of two bodies in a house near Oswestry at the weekend and the deaths of two people who were found in a derelict building in the same area in February.
Officers visited the home in Erw Wen, in Morda, on Saturday after a call made them concerned about the welfare of the occupants.
They found a man and a woman, both in their 30s, dead at the property.
The identity of the pair has not yet been released.
In February police found the bodies of a man and a woman in a derelict house at the junction of Weston Lane and Maesbury Road in Oswestry.
It is believed they had been living in the tumbledown building.
Inquests are still to be opened into their deaths and their identities have also not been made public. West Mercia Police reiterated yesterday that the force was not treating the deaths of the man and woman at Morda as suspicious.
Helen Blake, communications officer for West Mercia police said: "With regard to the deaths of the two people just outside Oswestry in February, there is no link between the two investigations."
She added: "Separate inquiries are ongoing into the circumstances surrounding the deaths."
After the discovery at the weekend, forensic investigations took place in the house and door to door inquiries were carried out by officers.
Tom Edwards, who lives close by, said he was shocked at the news.
The 30-year-old said: "It has come as quite a shock to the community.
"It has taken everyone by surprise.
"You don't expect it to happen somewhere quiet like Morda so it has left us all taken aback.
"My thoughts are with the family of those who have died."
