Woman taken to hospital after three-car crash near Newport

A woman was taken to hospital after a three-car crash on a country lane near Newport.

Police were called to Longford Road at around 5.45pm on Wednesday to reports of an crash between three vehicles. West Midlands Ambulance service were called shortly afterwards.

One woman in her 40s was sent to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital following the smash with complaints of back pain.

Constable Lee Thomas from Newport's Safer Neighbourhood Team said: "We were called to the Lilleshall to Edgmond road at about 5.45pm last night.

"Enquiries are ongoing."

Jamie Arrowsmith, of West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "At 5.53pm we were called by West Mercia Police to Longford Road, near to Longford Hall to reports of a three car RTC.

"One ambulance attended the scene. There was one patient, a woman in her 40s.

"She had back pain and was fully concious. She was mobilised and taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital."
