Dozens more trees planted in Newport

A project to restore the trees in Newport has seen another 32 take root thanks to volunteers.

The walnut, silver birch, rowan and holly trees were donated by Dave Gittus to mayor Peter Scott's tree planting project.

They have now been planted on green space off Ford Road.

Councillor Scott said: "Thank you to the volunteers who turned out – a good job well done.

"Thank you to Adrian Corney of Telford & Wrekin Council for the permission to plant."

The project was initially set up to try to counter the effects of development in the town.
