The fire was reported last night near Leominster, close to Herefordshire's border with Shropshire, after outdoor cooking had gotten out of hand.

A statement from Leominster's fire station staff said: "All three of our appliances were tonight called to an outbuilding on fire just outside of Leominster. Crews used a hose reel, thermal imaging camera, ladders and hand tools to extinguish the fire and to remove the roof sheets to inspect for signs of fire spread.

"The source of ignition for this fire was from cooking and heating during outside entertaining. With this type of activity set to increase during the following months, please take care where you are lighting barbecues and be aware of the surrounding area."

Earlier on Sunday, a camp fire in Shrewsbury had been reported to the Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service after it spread to a nearby tractor tyre. Fire crews were able to extinguish it with water buckets.
