Loan out litter pickers to help fight waste in Newport
People in a Shropshire town who are frustrated by litter are now able to borrow litter pickers from the town council.
Newport Town Council has launched a free loan scheme so anyone can sign out one or more of 20 litter picker for use around the town and nearby villages.
Regular loans can also be arranged.
Town mayor Peter Scott, who also arranges regular community litter picks, said: “I speak to many people who say they litter pick when out and about and I see others picking up litter with their bare hands.
"This equipment will allow them to pick it up safely and cleanly. My community litter pick team continue to meet regularly and this idea will allow others to help out on days and times that suit them."
