Hodnet Football Club's massive litter pick to fund new facilities
Litter pickers will tidy up their village and beyond in a fundraiser to help secure a new portacabin and host summer football camps.
Hodnet Football Club is arranging to clean up Hodnet, Tern Hill and Market Drayton on June 6, litter picking either side of the main road.
It is all to help buy a portacabin which will act as an office for the club.
A statement said: "Our litter pickers will start at Hodnet on Sunday, June 6, and after going around the village we will head down the bypass to Tern Hill picking both sides of the road.
"After a short break at the Shell garage to refuel and restock on new rubbish bags et cetera we will continue down the A53 to Market Drayton and onto to the Gingerbread Man roundabout before finishing on the east side of the town where the Newcastle Road joins the A53, covering the major roads where litter often builds up.
"Any donation is welcome as we need to invest in a portacabin which will act as an office for us to hold summer football camps for youngsters, and also an officials' changing room for matches. As we invest in equipment to be self-sufficient we also require a small lock-up to keep everything secure.
"The club members always promote the community aspect of the club and it's always our intention to give back to the community as much as possible so will always look to run any fundraisers that also serve the community such as this litter-pick."
