Gritters hit the roads in Shropshire with temperatures set to plummet

Shropshire Council is sending out its road gritters this afternoon as temperatures are set to plummet overnight.

The council says its fleet of gritters will be hitting the streets from 5pm on Monday and is asking drivers to take care on the roads as the thermometer dips below zero.

A spokesman for the local authority said: "The sun may be shining across Shropshire this afternoon, but the temperatures are set to drop below zero overnight.

"Our gritters will be out from 5pm."
