Environmental campaigners and the Telford and Wrekin Green Party has raised concerns about waste the site in Stoneyhill, Ironbridge, which they fear is 'leaking into' the nearby Ironbridge Gorge world heritage site.

The landfill site, which closed in 1991, was run by the now-defunct chemical manufacturer Monsanto.

Campaigners fear that hazardous waste dumped there when the company was active is now leaching out and could be running down a hill towards the Ironbridge Gorge - a Unesco World Heritage site.

Telford & Wrekin Council, which "proactively manages" the site has insisted the waste left by Monsanto is "not toxic".
