Auctioneers Halls are conducting the sale on behalf of contracting business partners Darren Griffiths and his mother Margaret, at The Coach House, Burlton on Saturday, April 14, 11am.

The family, which has lived at The Coach House for more than 30 years, has decided to change business direction, although Mr Griffiths's father, Malcolm is to continue mowing and wrapping in conjunction with a local contractor.

Planning permission has been obtained by Mr and Mrs Griffiths to convert the farm buildings into homes and to build a retirement bungalow on an orchard.

The family originally kept pigs and store cattle but for the last four years has used the 30-acres of land for contracting.

All the contracting machinery and equipment included in the sale has been serviced and is ready for use, said Mr Darren

The lots include two Claas 2200 square balers, McHale square- and round-bale wrappers, a John Deere 1360 mower, a Fendt 818 4WD tractor, a John Deere 6920S 4WD tractor, a John Deere 6310 4WD tractor with loader, a Richard Weston 12-tonne tipping trailer, a Krone Combi baler/wrapper and a Claas twin-rotor rake.

Mr Griffiths said he would be sad to see the machinery go, but was looking forward to focusing on alternative work in the next 12 months.

He explained that his contracting year, which began in March and ended in November, comprised ploughing for the potato crop, silaging and baling straw.

The sale is being conducted by Allen Gittins, a Halls director based at the company's Ellesmere office. For more information or a sale catalogue contact Halls on (01691) 622602.
