Primestock show packed

Bishop's Castle Christmas Primestock Show and Sale attracted a fine entry of 1,500 quality finished lambs.

Judge Rob Pritchard, of Newport, awarded the supreme championship Perpetual Challenge Cup and first prize in the over 44 kilo class to M and G Reynolds of Folly Farm with a pen of 48.5 kilo lambs which fetched £57 per head. Class runner up was Price Brothers, Garbett Hall.

Reserve champion pen of lambs and winner of the 37.5-43.5 kilo class was BW Gittins, Rhespass Farm, with

JA Wood and Sons, Kinnerton the class runner up. Winner of the up to 37 kilo class was A Bloor, The Whynn.

Commercial lambs averaged 81p/kilo, a shade sharper than recent weeks.
