Ten jobs will be created at a farm shop and deli in Telford as part of a major expansion scheme, it has been revealed.

Greenfields Farm Shop in Donnington has won planning permission to double the size of its selling space and to create a new coffee shop and cafe.

It is hoped the development at the farm shop, which also has a deli and butchery will lead to a number of full and part-time jobs.

The new plans will lead to major changes on site with Greenfields opening a new butchery counter and a cafe.

Today Greenfields manager Natalie Walker said: "We have been looking to redevelop the site for some time because Greenfields is an extremely popular outlet and we really need to have a larger site for local produce.

"We have now secured our planning permission from Telford & Wrekin Council and so we will be able to go ahead and double the size of the selling area. We have also secured permission for a first floor extension, which will be office space."

Miss Walker added that Greenfields would be creating plenty of new jobs in different departments as part of the expansion plan.

She said: "We have not yet confirmed the final numbers for staff but will be looking to take on around 10 part-time and full-time workers."

Miss Walker added that the redevelopment would give local growers and food producers a boost .

She said: "Our connection with the local farming community and with the region's best food producers is very strong. We take great pride in stocking the best food and drink from our region and now we will have more space for products on our shelves. At a time when the local economy needs a boost we are pleased that our customers have enabled us to go ahead with these plans."
