Spring has sprung as new lamb triplets arrive at Telford animal park

It's one of the first signs that spring has sprung – an adorable set of new lamb triplets.

The cute trio were born at Scotty's Donkey's, at the Apley Farm Shop in Norton, in the early hours of Wednesday.

Sarah Scott, from the animal park, said: "We woke up at 7.30am and they were there – they definitely hadn't been at 10.30pm on Tuesday.

"They're adorable, two little girls and boy. It's a sign of spring – flowers are blooming, there is new life everywhere, and now three lambs."

Sarah said it was rare to see triplets, and the newborns are already part of the relatively rare Jacob breed.

"Jacobs are two or four horned and they have exceptionally lovely thick wool," she said. "The wool is brown and white or black and white. They have beautiful markings."

So far, the new mother is managing to fully care for her babies.

But staff are keeping a close eye on them in case anything changes.

"At the moment, mom is doing everything," Sarah said. "She gave birth naturally and they have all had a drink. Touch wood, everything is going to plan.

"We're keeping a close eye out, because we might have to take them and bottle feed them. We have 18 that we've got to bottle feed, and we open it up to the public."

Lamb feeding sessions take place at 11am and 3pm. It costs £1 per bottle.
