While every milk-producing business may differ, forage utilisation guidelines and protocols offer huge potential for most dairy farms to increase profit in a sustainable way.

With that in mind, we have launched our new Forage First guide. Aimed at both all year round and block calving dairy herds, it provides information and practical advice to help levy payers reduce feed costs on farm and optimise the benefit from grazed grass and home-grown forage.

It collates the available knowledge and numbers on forage utilisation and feeding. This data is drawn from our extensive research and resources, as well as experienced industry advisors and centres of forage utilisation expertise across the world.

The guide will give experienced forage utilisers the confidence and knowledge to become even better, while giving clear guidance to those farmers looking to improve.

We hope farmers use Forage First frequently to find specific information and to stimulate thought and discussion. It can be used in farm team meetings or as a day-to-day reference for best practice.
