Shropshire farm owned by family for over 70 years is put up for sale
A South Shropshire smallholding with a Grade II listed farmhouse, a range of traditional and modern farm buildings and 12 acres of fertile pastureland is on the market with an asking price of around £595,000.
Listed as a Building of Special Architectural and Historical Interest, Rhoneth Farm in the hamlet Whitcott Keysett, two miles from Clun, is being sold by estate agents Halls on behalf of the executors of the late Vin Morris.
Halls sold 100 acres of permanent pastureland, which belonged to the farm, by tender in eight lots this summer.
Owned by the Morris family for more than 70 years, the farm enjoys an unspoilt location alongside the River Clun in the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The detached, half-timbered farmhouse, which requires improvement, has three bedrooms and a host of original features. Approached along a private, hardcored driveway, the original farmhouse dates to the late 16th century, with 18th and late 19th century remodelling.
The ground floor has a kitchen, sitting room with a woodburning stove, living room, utility room and WC. Upstairs there are three bedrooms, a bathroom, WC and airing cupboard. A small front garden has a well and hand pump.
The farm buildings and outbuildings comprise a cattle shed with two feeding passage and an enclosed yard, a livestock shelter, two-bay lean to implement shed, former cow house with lean to implement store and enclosed barn and three-bay steel implement shed.
The land is divided into four permanent pasture fields which provide good grazing for cattle, sheep and horses. The sale includes single bank fishing rights on the River Clun.
“The sale of Rhoneth Farm provides a rare opportunity to purchase an unspoilt farmstead, with a quaint, Listed farmhouse which has great potential for improvement, conversion and extension, subject to planning consent,” said Peter Willcock from Halls, who is handling the sale.
“It’s an interesting, character farmhouse atypical of that era.
“The farm buildings adjacent to the farmhouse provide useful storage space and livestock housing. The land has good access from adjoining roads and bridleways and borders the River Clun.”
