Women from across Shropshire will enjoy a vintage themed ladies evening in a bid to raise thousands of pounds for the Georgia Williams Trust.

Bosses at The Best Western Valley Hotel who are hosting the event approached Georgia's mum Lynnette and sister Scarlett who backed the fundraising idea.

The event is now scheduled to be held at the Ironbridge hotel on July 25.

The Georgia Williams Trust was founded shortly after the death of the 17-year-old in Wellington in May last year.

The charity's aim is to enable young people to take part in the adventurous activities Georgia enjoyed.

The event, which is the first of its kind for the trust, will have a summer vintage theme and organisers are appealing for companies to donate auction prizes, raffle prizes and products for goody bags which will be given to all the ladies that attend.

Lisa Snape, sales and marketing manager at The Best Western Valley Hotel, said she hoped this would be a record breaking charity event for the hotel.

She said: "We wanted to do a ladies event for charity and instantly remembered a lady who made such an impact on people's lives in Telford.

"Georgia's family thought it was a wonderful idea and have helped organise it - we want ladies to enjoy getting dressed up and have some fun as Georgia would have done.

"From teenagers, to parents to grandparents - we want everyone to make it the occasion it deserves to be.

"We would love to hear from anyone who can help in any way, whether it be helping to decorate the room, provide entertainment or businesses that are able to donate prizes or gifts."

Georgia's parents Lynnette and Steve, who have been involved in helping to organise the ladies evening at the Best Western Valley Hotel, said Georgia would have loved to attend such an event and she hoped her friends would support it.

Mrs Williams said: "People will have seen the gorgeous photo of our beautiful daughter in her prom dress and will have seen her in her clothes ready for some of her outdoor adventures too!

"It would definitely be a prom dress for Georgia for this event and I hope her friends and others who may not have known Georgia but would like to enjoy a ladies evening whilst also raising money for the trust will join us.

"The staff at The Valley have worked very hard to host the event and now we hope businesses will take this opportunity to support the event through donations or ticket sales."

Anyone aged between 11 and 18-years-old in Telford & Wrekin can apply for a grant from the Georgia Williams Trust of up to £250 and must demonstrate they will help fulfil the charity's aims.

Tickets for the ladies evening will include a glass of Pimms on arrival, a buffet and strawberries and cream to follow.

Tickets cost £20 per person.
