Birthday joy for miracle boys

It's hard to believe these birthday boys once weighed little more than a bag of sugar.

Lewis and Flynn Stuart will be at the centre of attention tomorrow when they celebrate their first birthday.

The twins actual birthday will be on Monday, when, mother Tracey Othen will be taking them back to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital's neo natal unit where they were cared for to catch up with the nurses there, and present £750 that she raised by organising a baby sale.

The pair were tiny when they were born and spent several weeks in hospital before being allowed home.

Tracey, 31, of King Street, Cherry Orchard, Shrewsbury , said: "It seems to have gone so quick as time flies," she said,

"It's been chaotic but fun. I have a great support network of mums - they've been my lifeline, really. It's hard to believe now that they were ever that small."

The babies were due to enjoy a party at Shrewsbury Cricket Club, but a rescheduled match meant she was left without a venue.

Palms Hill House, a wedding venue near Wem, stepped in and offered a room free of charge.

Tracey said: "I rang around asking for help and Palms Hill rang me back telling me they would cover all the costs.

"I was absolutely amazed. I am so grateful."

The party will be held in an outdoor marquee and up to 35 of Lewis and Flynn's friends will be coming along.

"It was going to be a circus theme, but now it's turning into more of a garden party," she said.
