Oswestry maternity unit closed again by staff sickness
Services at Oswestry's maternity unit were temporarily suspended again tonight because of staff sickness.
The midwife-led unit, which is based at the orthopaedic hospital in Gobowen, was due to reopen at 8am on Wednesday.
Women booked in to give birth in Oswestry or who go into labour during the temporary suspension have been offered a birth at another unit in the county or at the consultant-led unit at the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford.
Sarah Jamieson, head of midwifery at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH), apologised for the inconvenience.
It is the second time this month that the unit was forced to close because of staff sickness.
