A report from Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust to Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin Council's joint health overview and scrutiny committee said the families have come forward with questions regarding the review process and questions relating to their care.

The report says meetings will take place so their concerns can be understood, before further actions and steps are taken.

An independent review into baby deaths and injuries at SaTH was launched last year at the request of then Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt.

It came amid claims of a ‘cluster’ of nine deaths between September 2014 and May 2016, of which seven were avoidable, according to inquests.

It later emerged that 12 cases over a 19-year period were being looked at.

SaTH previously said it has written to 12 families to say there may be potential for further learning and to seek permission for their care to be reviewed by independent clinical experts to ensure any learning is identified.

The report to the committee said, to date, 10 of those have responded and provided consent for external review.

It comes as the BBC reported that at least 104 families have now come forward wanting their cases to be considered.
